Our Commitment
As volunteers of We Are Oldham County, we are united by a common purpose: to preserve the values, voice, and future of Oldham County. We represent our community with integrity, professionalism, and respect.
This Code of Conduct ensures that our efforts remain positive, lawful, and community-focused.
1. Represent the Mission

Uphold and communicate the mission and values of We Are Oldham County at all times.

Ensure that your actions and words reflect positively on the organization and its goals.
2. Respectful Behavior

Treat everyone—community members, elected officials, opponents, and fellow volunteers—with respect, even in disagreement.

Refrain from using profanity, insults, or inflammatory language.

Maintain a calm and composed demeanor, especially during high-stress or emotional situations.
3. Non-Partisan & Non-Violent

Do not engage in or promote violence, threats, or harassment of any kind.

Maintain a non-partisan stance when representing the organization—our cause transcends political affiliations.

Do not wear or display any political party or candidate material while volunteering on behalf of We Are Oldham County.
4. Community Engagement

Speak clearly and kindly, and never argue if someone asks you to leave their property.

Avoid blocking driveways or mailboxes when parking or walking in neighborhoods.

Do not knock on doors with 'No Soliciting' signs—respect individual boundaries.

Do not litter or leave behind any materials, including flyers or water bottles.

Be respectful of people’s homes, lawns, and driveways—never walk through gardens or off designated paths.

When distributing flyers or canvassing:

Be courteous and respect private property.

Never place materials in mailboxes (it's a federal offense).

Only engage with people who are open to conversation—do not pressure or argue.

Provide accurate information and direct people to our website or official communication channels if questions arise.
5. Meetings & Events

Arrive on time and be prepared.

Listen actively and allow others to speak without interruption.
-
Follow the agenda and respect facilitators or leaders guiding the meeting.

Confidential discussions should remain private unless otherwise stated.
6. Social Media & Public Statements

Do not speak to the media on behalf of the organization unless authorized.

Use social media responsibly—personal opinions should not be presented as organizational positions.
-
Avoid sharing unverified or misleading information.
7. Legal Compliance

Obey all local, state, and federal laws, including regulations related to assembly, distribution of materials, and privacy.

If any legal concerns arise during volunteer activities, notify a team leader immediately.
8. Accountability

If a fellow volunteer behaves inappropriately, report it to a designated coordinator privately.

Volunteers who violate this Code may be asked to leave an event or may be removed from the volunteer program.
